Winter in Raccoon Creek State Park, PA

While the West has been logging record snowfall this winter, Western Pennsylvania has received very little snow. In training for the Bighorn 52 mile trail race in June, I’ve been out on local trails a lot this winter. It’s typically meant running, sliding and slipping on mud, not snow. However, on a recent trip to Raccoon Creek State Park in Beaver County, I came across these amazing ice formations along one of the feeder streams. It’s always amazing to see the beauty of nature and too often I look for it only on a big scale. In reality, it can often be right below your feet.
